The PRAXIS Series (PRAXIS I and PRAXIS II)
The Division of Education at IU Kokomo requires successful passage of two parts of the PRAXIS Series: PRAXIS I and PRAXIS II. Each portion is described below. PRAXIS I must be met successfully prior to formal admission into a Teacher Education Program. PRAXIS II exams are specific to the intended licensure area(s). The appropriate exam(s) must be met successfully prior to student teaching.
Very important information is contained in The PRAXIS Series Information Bulletin 2008-09. For example, there is a procedure to request testing accommodations thru Disability Services (page 7) and a process to obtain a fee waiver (page 8). It is highly recommended that you print a copy and read thoroughly. Only a brief summary of PRAXIS I and PRAXIS II is included on this web site. >>> Bulletin

Candidates for the Teacher Education Program (K-6, ECH, and 5-12) must meet the qualifying score for each test prior to formal admission into the Teacher Education Program (TEP). Student Teaching Eligibility -- |
PRAXIS II Exam Completion Date |
A passing score on the PRAXIS II test(s) is one of the requirements for a student to be eligible to student teach. The last testing date/month in which the PRAXIS II exam(s) may be taken for those teacher candidates planning to student teach during a Fall Semester is June, and the last testing date/month in which the PRAXIS II exam(s) may be taken for those teacher candidates planning to student teach during a Spring Semester in September. Given the PRAXIS II is not administered every month, the aforementioned testing dates/months represent the last testing opportunity for teacher candidates planning to student teach during the respective upcoming semester. For this policy and all other student teaching policies, refer to the Student Teaching Handbook.
