Walk a Mile in My shoes 2008 Walk-a-thon

On February 9th the Kokomo Rescue Mission will have its 7th Annual Walk a Mile in My shoes Walk-a-thon to benefit Open Arms shelter for homeless women and children.  Its a 1-mile round trip walk from the mission headquarters at 321 W. Mulberry St. to Open Arms 929 N. Main St.  At Open Arms refreshments will be served and tours will be available.  if you are interested in walking with the IU Kokomo group please contact Kathy Coppola at ext. 552 or kcoppola@iuk.edu.

Katrina Relief

Indiana University Kokomo Staff Council has donated $1000 to Katrina Relief.  Bill Nunez, Chancellor of Louisiana State University Eunice, agreed to be our contact person.  Their town inherited about 3000 displaced people from New Orleans.  The following is a note from Bill:

…The charity and caring that you'all (the IUK Staff Senate) have exhibited is, in a word, exemplary; and, I am personally humbled

that you remembered and thought of me as your "contact individual" for this generous, self- initiated, humanitarian project!
