The foundation you need to succeed

Nutrition lab = pizza + friendship
Pizza – the food that bridges cultural differences. Language barriers were overcome as students placed a variety of vegetables, grated manchego cheese, and cilantro to create a sushi rice vegetarian pizza. The global nutrition class at Indiana University Kokomo made more than pizzas with their counterparts from South Korea – they were building friendships as well.
Education graduate inspires lifelong learning
More than 20 first graders gather on the rug at the front of their classroom, ready to begin their day at Western Primary School. Near a bulletin board decorated with an owl theme, Angela Jakes leads the class morning meeting. Children use bundles of brightly colored drinking straws to demonstrate place value, and then update their weather outlook.
Nursing students receive specialized training
A nurse is the last line of defense between a patient and the wrong medication. At Indiana University Kokomo, student nurses receive specialized training in preventing medication errors through a partnership with the Purdue College of Pharmacy. The IU Kokomo School of Nursing is the first in Indiana to offer the Medication Safety Essentials (MSE) program.
Raise your voice for a music scholarship
Raise your voice — and possibly receive a scholarship. Indiana University Kokomo invites high school seniors to audition for its first-ever music scholarships, available to selected students participating in the Cougar Choir. “This is a fabulous opportunity for students to continue to grow as vocalists, while earning a college degree,” said Wendy Grice, lecturer of music.
