Library Circulation Policies
Library Cards
To check out Library materials, you must present your Indiana University borrower's card at the Circulation/Reserves Service Desk. For students and full-time faculty, your IU Kokomo ID card serves as your Library card. To obtain a student ID, contact Student Activities, located in Room 210 in the Kelley Student Center.
Adjunct faculty and Indiana residents may obtain a borrower's card with a valid Indiana driver's license or proof of residency.
Lost or stolen cards are replaced for a cost of $5.00.
Material Loan Periods
For information on the Library's circulation policies and loan periods for materials checked out from the IU Kokomo Library, please see our Circulation and Reserves Services page.
Recalling Materials
If a Library book or other resource is checked out, it may be recalled by contacting the Library's circulation department by phone at (765) 455-9513.
Checking Out Non-circulating Materials
If a faculty member needs to use non-circulating materials, such as a book from the reference collection, for a specific purpose, permission can be received by contacting a librarian. Permission may be denied if the item is a high demand item or if there has been previous abuse of this privilege.
Requesting Materials from Other Libraries
Materials from other Indiana University libraries may be requested by students and faculty via the Request Delivery feature in IUCAT, the IU Libraries' catalog. Materials may be borrowed from other, non-Indiana University libraries via our Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad) service. Also, Indiana University is a member of several faculty reciprocal borrowing programs that include other academic institutions within Indiana, as well as many outside of the state. Faculty members may request a borrowing card that allows them borrowing privileges at participating institutions.
If you have questions about any of these services, please Ask A Librarian.
