The IU Kokomo Library provides access to many online/digital resources. These resources may be accessed anytime from on- or off-campus.
When accessing digital resources from off-campus, you may be asked to authenticate in to the library's proxy server, which you may do by entering your IU username and passphrase. Additional information about off-campus access to digital resources is available on our Remote Access page.
Electronic Resources in IUCAT
IUCAT, the library's online catalog, provides users with access to books, e-books, electronic journals, links to government documents, and more. The catalog also offers the ability to preview or view e-resources in Google Books and the HathiTrust Digital Library, an immense collection of digital resources from dozens of partner institutions.
Electronic Resources in Library Databases
The library provides access to many online databases that offer scholarly journal articles, newspaper articles, e-books, streaming videos, government documents, and more. You may access these resources from our Databases A-Z, Databases by Subject, and Databases by Type guides. If you are unsure which resource best fits your needs, start with the Databases by Subject page. Please also feel free to Ask a Librarian for additional assistance.
Library Research Tools
The library also provides a number of tools to help you with your research and assignments:
EDS (EBSCO Discovery Service)
This next-gen library tool is available via the search box on the library home page or as a link on the "E" page of our Databases A-Z guide. EDS allows you to simultaneously search and retrieve full-text resources from multiple sources, such as article databases, IUCAT, reference collections, and much more. Results are ranked by relevancy, and you can limit your results to specific types of resources (e.g. full-text articles, books, government documents, etc.) using the limiters on the left side of the results page. Learn more about EDS on our EDS: What am I searching? explanatory page.
Journal Finder
Use the Journal Finder tool to look up specific journal or e-book titles. You can also use this tool to browse journals or e-books by title or subject. This tool is linked on our library home page. A direct link to the fully-functional Journal Finder tool is also available here.
Citation Linker
Use our Citation Linker tool when you already have a citation for an article and want to find an HTML or PDF full-text version of the article. Citation Linker is listed as a link on the library home page.
Look for it
As you are looking for articles in library databases, you may encounter citations that do not show either HTML full-text or PDF full-text availability. Rather, these articles display a button like this:
. Clicking this button for a specific article will start a search across the library's full-text holdings, and if the library has full-text for that article, you will be given a link to the full-text article. If we don't have access to the full-text, you'll be provided a link to request the article through our Interlibrary Loan service.
LibTools
Download the LibTools browser toolbar, and install it on your Firefox or Internet Explorer Web browser. Once installed, as you browse across the Internet, you will see the IU symbol displayed beside items listed on Amazon.com, Google Scholar, and other Web pages. Clicking the IU symbol will search the IU Kokomo Library holdings to see if the material is available within our library.
