Secondary Education

The Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education degree program at Indiana University Kokomo is designed for those students who desire to teach at the junior high/middle school and/or high school level (grades 5-12). Students may select licensure areas from among the following subject areas or fields of specialization: English/Language Arts, Fine Arts: Visual Arts*, Mathematics, Science, or Social Studies. Graduates with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education are then eligible for a license to teach any two of the core subject areas (English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, or Social Studies) for middle school/junior high grades 5-9. Graduates also receive licensure in one content area such as English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, or Social Studies for grades 5-12.

A concentration in Special Education is available under REPA licensure.

Upon completion of all degree and program requirements, students will be eligible to apply to the Indiana Office of Educator Licensing and Development for licensure in one of the following content areas at the secondary level (grades 5-12*) or any two of the following content areas at the middle school/junior high (grades 5-9) level:
