What are the areas I can study in the Humanities B.A. Degree?
As a Humanities major, you have a wide range of areas that you can choose to study. Most courses in the in the broad field of the Humanities are possible options including courses in communication, English, fine arts, theater, music, languages, new media, philosophy, religion and gender studies. This degree is designed for a student who is interested in several of these areas and wants to be able to study how those areas relate to one another.
What kind of job can I get with this degree?
As a general rule, a college major does not prepare you for one specific job. Instead, it allows you to develop skills and abilities in your area of interest that can be applied to a broad range of jobs. Alternatively, our graduates can go to graduate school.
What if I want to go to graduate school?
Most students with Humanities degrees who wish to go to graduate school take the GRE exam and then choose what area of study they wish to pursue at the graduate level. Some go on to specialized Masters and Doctoral programs. Once such program that might be of particular interest to Humanities majors would be the IU Kokomo Master of Arts in Liberal Studies.
How many classes do I have to take?
To earn Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities you'll need a minimum of 120 credit hours.
What kinds of classes will I have to take?

How many students will be in my classes?
A typical class might have 20-35 students although number of students can vary from 10 students in upper level classes to over 100 students in a few of the lower level courses.
Can I do an internship?
Internships let you lean and apply your skills and knowledge within a real workplace. Internships are available for all degrees with the Department of Humanities.
Will you help me find a job when I graduate?
IU Kokomo's Office of Career Services, located in the Kelley Student Center, can assist you with aptitude and interest assessments and help you prepare for the job search and interview process.
Do I get an advisor to help me schedule classes?
General advising for this major is provided in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences Advising Center in room KO 280 (765-455-9258). Additionally there is a faculty advisor, Netty Provost, email@example.com who you can contact with questions about the degree.

Will I be able to do research in Humanities?
We highly value students’ undertaking research in areas of interest. In addition to required courses that encourage students to do research we provide opportunities for students to do independent studies, internships, submit to undergraduate research conferences and journals.
Are there student organizations for this degree?
We offer a variety of organizations, including a philosophy club, show choir, band, jazz band, literary journal, new media club and more. There is no specific student organization for the Humanities B.A. because our students have diverse interests they are often members of several different student organizations related to their areas of study.
