English as a Second Language (ESL)

As part of the Student Success Center, ESL Services provide academic support by a certified ESL tutor for international students who need help in English proficiency. Working one-on-one with an ESL tutor, students learn and practice the writing, reading, and proofreading strategies necessary for critical, college-level writing.ESL Services are customized to address the students knowledge levels as well as language and cultural learning style differences. Efforts are directed toward helping students acclimate to American educational and societal customs as they learn to interact with American professors and students.

Services include:

• Assessment
• Tutoring
• English fluency workshops
• Assistance developing strong study skills and habits

ESL Services offer current international students high-quality English language training and linguistic orientation to assist them in attaining better proficiency in English and in broadening their cultural awareness in order to ensure their success at Indiana University Kokomo.
