Applying for financial aid:

1. Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. New FAFSA forms for the next aid year are available on January 1. FAFSA on the web allows you to complete and submit your financial aid application electronically. The federal school code for IUKokomo is 001814. The FAFSA Priority Application Receipt Date is March 10 each year.  To receive maximum consideration for financial aid for the new academic year, the FAFSA must be at the Federal Processor on or before March 10th each and every year.  However, if you miss this date, still apply as you have until June 30 of the following year to file, as long as the semester has not ended. 
   • If you provide an email address on your FAFSA, the federal processor will send you an email notification with a link to your Student Aid Report (SAR). If you did not provide an email address, you will receive this notification by mail in 7 to 10 days. You should review your SAR for any necessary corrections or updates. If you do not hear from the federal processor within one week of submission, go to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ and FAFSA Follow-Up 3 and select: "Check Status of a submitted FAFSA or Print Signature Page." 2. Apply to your school of choice. At IU Kokomo (admissions) you must be admitted for us to begin the financial aid process. For entering students, admission by November 1 or no later than March 1 for the following Fall semester will result in your consideration for IU Kokomo scholarships. For continuing student scholarship consideration, you must be registered for fall classes by April 1.
   • Once admitted to IU.  Use OneStart^© to:
     
     
     • View your financial aid award summary with options to accept, reduce/accept or decline some awards (e.g. Loans and Federal Work-Study). Please note that reducing or declining loans is typically suspended after July 1 each year. If you need this type of change and are unable to complete the process via OneStart, please contact our office. If you are communicating by email, please send your request from your IU email account and include your 10 digit student ID in the body of your message with a detailed request.
     • Check regularly (weekly) for To Do items that have been assigned that require your action. For example, you may have a To Do item assigned due to a problem with your FAFSA or if you have been selected for verification.
