The Kokomo community of IUScholarWorks seeks to aggregate, preserve, and make more visibile the scholarly work of faculty, students, and staff on the Kokomo campus. It is an initiative from the Office of Institutional Research with support from the Center for Research and Creative Activity.
Faculty, staff and student research and creative works can be added to the repository including articles, presentations, images, videos, books, book chapters when copyright permissions allow.
The implementation on the Kokomo campus is an Institutional Research initiative supporting Kokomo Strategic Priority VII "Enhance the role of campus scholarship and creative work. " Support is being supplied by the Office of the Chancellor and the Center for Research and Creative Activity for this initial development period. The Bloomington Digital Library Program is providing the infrastructure support.
The Faculty Annual Report that we are implementing on the campus will have an option when adding research and creative activities to your annual report to notify the IR Office to contact you about adding your work to IUScholarWorks.
Goals for the remainder of the 2009-2010 academic year for IUScholarWorks:
- Gain a representation of work from each of the Schools, departments, staff in Student Services, OCM, and Administration, and students.
- Investigate the journal publishing platform – perhaps with From the Well House
- Build enough content to being working with OCM to market the collection
- Begin to develop the foundation for self-submission
Understand publisher copyright policies before submitting your work. This will let you know if you can legally archive pre-prints or post-prints in a repository. These policies can easily be checked by journal title or publisher name by visiting the University of Nottingham-maintained SHERPA/RoMEO database.
