The Department of Information Technology supports all network services on campus, including network equipment, the fiber optic campus backbone, Ethernet connections, networked printing services, and desktop computers. IT also provides technical support to faculty, staff, and students for computing needs Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.Wireless Access
Students, faculty, and staff can access the IU Kokomo network through wireless hotspots located throughout the campus. The wireless hotspots all have the SSID of iuk-wireless. Here is a complete listing of wireless hot spots for your reference.Locations
Wireless networking (WiFi) is available to you at IU Kokomo in most public gathering areas. Students with laptops can gain access to all of the network resources available on the lab and classsroom computers including Library databases and the Internet. The Kelley Student Center and the Library are two of the most popular areas for students to connect to the wireless network. Other areas include the front classroom hallway of the main building and the Hunt Hall lobby area. Plans are being made to expand coverage on campus.IU Secure, IU Guest and Virtual Private Network (VPN)
The wireless network access points at IU Kokomo are configured for open access, but this doesn't mean that anyone can use the network. Instead, once you have connected to the access point, you'll need to connect to the IU Kokomo Virtual Private Network using your network ID and password. Instructions for setting up this connection can be found at the IU Knowledge Base. Choose the article that pertains to the Operating System of your computer. For further help, visit the Computer Services Helpdesk located in the Library.Technology Recommendations
To use the wireless network at IU Kokomo, we recommend Windows 2000, XP, or Vista or Mac OX 10 with an internal or external 802.11g wireless network adapter.Telecommunications

Audio/Visual (A/V) provides audio and video equipment for IU Kokomo's high-tech classrooms, auditoriums, and events. The A/V staff offers training to faculty and staff on how to use the equipment—the A/V staff does not provide personnel to run A/V equipment. Those needing training must make arrangements at least 24 hours in advance. A/V also provides communication services through the IHETS and VIC networks for your videoconference needs. For this service, room reservations must be made in advance. Equipment and videoconference rooms are in limited supply, and all reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis.Available resources include TV/VCR stations, computer presentation stations, teleconferencing (PolyCom), video/tape duplication, and camera/imaging.
Audio/Visual can duplicate CDs, audio, and video tapes. For this service, you must provide the blank media to record to and copyright permission.
A/V is also your source for films and videotapes from the IU Kokomo Library.
To make a reservation, contact the Helpdesk by sending an e-mail to kohelp@iuk.edu or calling extension 315.
