Education (Elementary and Secondary)
The teacher education programs offer a balance of broad liberal arts education and specialized knowledge in education and concentration areas. Students can earn the B.S. degree in elementary education in preparation to teach kindergarten through sixth grade. In addition, students can earn a bachelor's degree in arts and sciences or general studies at Indiana University Kokomo while meeting the licensing requirements to teach in the fifth through twelfth grades. Specialization areas include English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Students in education have early and frequent field experience.
Careers
The Division of Education plays a key role in educating teaching professionals for north central Indiana. The faculty are committed to helping IU graduates secure satisfying professional positions. Persons completing an IU Kokomo Teacher Education Program and state mandated tests are eligible to apply for the appropriate license. Indiana has a reciprocal agreement with approximately 40 other states.
