Indiana University Kokomo News :: Print this ArticleKOKOMO, Ind. – Area children who deal with asthma and diabetes can learn how to better control and manage their diseases at summer camps offered by the Indiana University Kokomo School of Nursing.
Camp Eeze-the-Wheeze and Kids with Insulin Dependent Diabetes (KIDDS Kamp) are available to children ages 6 through 13, and will take place June 14 to 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Jackson Morrow Park, 4200 South Park Road.
Each camp offers information on how to live with and manage diabetes or asthma. There are education programs that cover topics such as medication, blood testing, diet, exercise, and coping with emotions. A dedicated staff of physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and pharmacists provide medical supervision.
Camp counselors coordinate a varied program of activities specially oriented for children with asthma or diabetes. Campers are introduced to arts and crafts, hiking, exploring, and sports.
