Seasonal and H1N1 Flu Vaccinations at IU Kokomo
Seasonal flu vaccinations are now available from local physicians. Please contact the Howard County Health Department for more information at (765) 456-2408. Please note: Seasonal flu vaccinations do not offer protection from H1N1 flu (also known as swine flu).

Howard County health officials have requested 12,000 doses of H1N1 flu vaccine. It is tentatively expected to arrive in late October. More information will be posted on this site when it becomes available.

Preparations for a Possible H1N1 Outbreak on the IU Kokomo campus
To limit the spread of any high communicable disease, it is vitally important that any individual—student, faculty, or staff—with the flu stay away from classes, labs, and other gatherings. In the event that you are forced to miss class, you will not be required to present documentation of illness.

In the event of campus closures, faculty members have been advised to develop a plan for how they will continue conducting class. These methods may include:

  • Communication with students via OnCourse, including information about closures, cancellations, student discussion, group work, and assignment submissions
  • Lecture delivery  via Adobe Connect for live lectures or Adobe Presenter for recorded materials
  • Office hours via Oncourse, Adobe Connect, Google Talk, or Skype
  • Student presentations via Adobe Connect, Google Presentations, or Adobe Presenter

Each class syllabus should provide complete information about how coursework will be handled in the event of a closure.

In the event that final exams have to be canceled, final grades will reflect an average of all coursework completed to date.
