Academic Council Minutes

  1. Hamilton shared examples of enrollment verification rosters which will be sent to units as a PDF file. Please distribute to the faculty in your units and then collect the completed verifications and return them to Holly Hamilton. Mid-term grade rosters will be generated on-line October 8. Please encourage and assist your faculty in the completion of these forms by October 18, 2004.
  2. The general repeat rule for courses at IUK should be average.
  3. EMA will be October 21 & 22, 2004. We need to identify a team for IU Kokomo from the deans, chairs, and other individuals responsible for hiring staff and involved in retention of minority students.
  4. A hospitality request form was shared. Please use this form whenever you are planning to provide food charged to IU. Keep a list of people attending the function.
  5. Moving expenses must be approved prior to the offer to new faculty/staff. A proposed policy was distributed. The final policy will be distributed as soon as it is finalized by the Chancellor.
  6. An overload pay policy is also under development. There will be NO difference in overload pay between graduate and undergraduate courses. If the overload is due to the need to replace, at the last moment, an adjunct faculty member, the rate will be at the highest adjunct rate. If development of new course materials is required by this overload, a course development payment may be authorized. The completed policy will be shared soon.
  7. The Academic Council will be meeting once per month to allow time for the Vice Chancellor to meet with his Dean's Council once per month.
