ACADEMIC COUNCIL MINUTES

December 15, 2006

Present:  Roales, Stroman, Giesecke, Pati, Aniskiewicz, Green, Dibie, Sehr, Calhoon, Sadler, Stachacz, Hakes

  • Finals Week: It was determined that with respect to the Faculty Senate Policy on finals during the last week of regularly scheduled classes, we need to inform faculty that they are expected to comply with this policy.  Although this does not appear to be a large problem, VC Green will address this to the faculty, reminding them of the policy.
  • Saturday Orientation:  Stroman - We will have two Saturday orientations, May 6 and June 17th.  May and June are the months to get the best participation from parents.  The dates will be finalized by Gerry Stroman.  A discussion of a third Saturday orientation in July will be held at a later date. It was suggested that an agenda item for early next year should be “How do we create better and moreengagementswith our students’ parents?”.
  • Oncourse Report:   Sharon Calhoon reported on a variety of issues related to the rollout of the new Oncourse. She and VC Green will follow on these issues by communicating to the faculty about them via email.
