1. Any person who has been dismissed for academic reasons from the last institution at which that person was registered as a regularly admitted student (not a transient student) may enter IUK only after a Fall or Spring semester has passed since the student was dismissed. Specifically, the following table will determine the application of this rule:
Semester or Quarter
at the
Semester of Eligibility
end
of which the student
to Enter IUK
was dismissed for academic
reasons
Fall Semester Fall Semester
Spring Semester Spring Semester
Summer Session Spring Semester
Fall Quarter Fall Semester
Winter Quarter Spring Semester
January Inter-session Fall Semester
Spring Quarter Spring Semester
Summer Quarter Spring Semester
Exceptions to this rule may be granted by the IUK Faculty Senate Admissions Committee.
2. Students dismissed from IUK or another IU campus must petition the academic unit which they wish to enter for readmission. The petition must be submitted on or before July 15 to enroll Fall semester or on or before December I to enroll Spring semester. The designated faculty or staff member(s) in the unit should meet with the student and discuss the student’s academic record.
The academic unit may develop a specific readmission form and request the applicant to provide any relevant and legal information. The unit may admit the student with stipulations, one of which must be that the student achieve a semester GPA greater than 2.0 so that progress toward raising the cumulative GPA above 2.0 is being made or deny admission. The unit is responsible for informing the applicant of the action taken. If the student is admitted, the unit must inform the registrar in writing. The student will be permitted to register, but the student is to be placed on academic probation. Thus the student may be dismissed at the end of that semester if the student meets the criteria for academic dismissal at IUK. The academic unit may also prohibit registration for a subsequent semester if the stipulations set by the unit are not satisfied.
3. Applicants who have been academically dismissed from another institution will be admitted or denied admission by the Director of Admissions. The Director may admit the student with stipulations for continued enrollment at IUK and is responsible for monitoring conformity with those stipulations.
4. Any student who has been academically dismissed two or
more
times from one institution or from two or more
institutions is not eligible to
enroll at IUK until a period of one
year has elapsed from the date of the most
recent dismissal.
The IUK Faculty
Senate Admissions Committee will
determine whether the student may enroll at IUK.
If the student is an IU student, the IUK Faculty Senate Admissions Committee is responsible for informing the applicant of the action taken. If the student is admitted, the IUK Faculty Senate Admissions Committee must inform the registrar in writing. The student will be permitted to register, but the student is to be placed on academic probation. Thus the student may be dismissed at the end of that semester if the student meets the criteria for academic dismissal at IUK. The IUK Faculty Senate Admissions Committee may also prohibit registration for a subsequent semester if the stipulations set by the Committee are not satisfied.
If the student is not an IU student, the Director of Admissions is responsible for informing the applicant of the action taken. If the student is admitted with stipulations, the Director of Admissions is responsible for monitoring conformity with those stipulations and reporting to the IUK Faculty Senate Admissions Committee.
