Office of Academic Affairs

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs maintains the integrity of IU Kokomo's academic mission by overseeing academic programs, policies, procedures, calendars, academic appointments, promotion and tenure, and faculty grants and fellowships.

Offices that report to Academic Affairs include: the IU Kokomo Library, Institutional Research and the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment. The most current annual assessment summaries are published at the Center website.  The Academic Council, which is composed of deans, chairpersons, and others who report to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, serves as the department's advisory body.

Mission Statement

The Office of Academic Affairs promotes excellence in teaching, learning, inquiry, and service in the context of a diversity of cultures and perspectives by collaborating with and providing support for campus, schools, divisions, and departments in the following areas:

  • curriculum and co-curriculum
  • faculty and staff development
  • institutional research and assessment
  • planning and budgeting
  • community engagement
  • personnel

Accreditation

Indiana University Kokomo is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, located at 30 N. LaSalle Street, Suite 2400, Chicago, IL 60602-2504.

The School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International on both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The Associate of Science in Nursing (A.S.N.) program is fully accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, 61 Broadway, New York, NY, 10006. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) program is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), 1 Dupont Circle, NW, Suite 530, Washington, D.C. 20036-1120.

The Associate of Science in Radiography Degree Program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)  http://www.jrcert.org/

The teacher education programs are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Indiana Professional Standards Board (IPSB). As a result of an accreditation review conducted in the fall of 2003 by NCATE and the IPSB, the status of the initial teacher education programs at IU Kokomo was changed to continuing accreditation with conditions and the status of the advanced programs was changed to probation. Both programs will be reviewed again during the spring of 2005 at which time decisions will be made by both NCATE and the IPSB regarding accreditation of the initial and advanced programs at Indiana University Kokomo.
