How to Apply

Our application process is simple, straightforward, and convenient—and we can help you every step of the way.

High School Students

Apply to IU Kokomo to Earn a Degree

You can apply online or by mail. Here’s what you’ll need to submit:

  • A completed Application for Admission as a First Year Applicant
  • An official high school transcript (transcript must be received in a sealed envelope from the high school)
  • Your SAT or ACT scores (If you have been out of school three years or more, SAT/ACT scores are not required.)
  • $30 non-refundable application fee. The application fee is waived for Twenty-First Century Scholars and for economic hardship with verification from the high school guidance office.
  • If you earned college credit while in high school, submit an official transcript from each college or university. (This step is not necessary if your earned IU college credit)

Apply to Take Classes While You Are a Junior or Senior in High School

If you are interested in taking college courses while you are pursuing your high school diploma, you can apply for the Collegiate Credit for High School Students (CCHSS) program. Talk to your high school guidance counselor to find out how university courses fit into your high school schedule and college planning. This program is designed for admission-eligible, mature high school juniors and seniors who demonstrate preparation for college-level course work. If you are interested in CCHSS you must:

  • Submit the Application for Admission (PDF) as a Special High School Applicant
  • Obtain the endorsement of your high school counselor
  • Provide an official high school transcript
  • Include your PSAT, SAT, or ACT score

Application forms may also be obtained from the Office of Admissions. CCHSS students are not eligible for federal, state, or university financial aid .

Adult Students

It’s easy to apply. You can apply online or by mail. Here’s what you’ll need to submit:

  • A completed application form and nonrefundable application fee of $30
  • An official high school transcript, even though you may have graduated a number of years ago (the transcript must be received in a sealed envelope from the high school). If you did not graduate from high school, submit your GED scores
  • SAT or ACT scores if you plan to enroll within three years of high school graduation

Transfer Students

You’ll need to submit:

  • A completed Application for Admission as a Transfer Applicant
  • Your official college transcript(s) from all previously attended colleges or universities, excluding IU transcripts (transcripts must be received in a sealed envelope from the college or university)
  • Your official high school transcript (the transcript must be received in a sealed envelope from the high school) or GED scores if you earned less than 13 college level credit hours
  • $30 non-refundable application fee
  • IU Intercampus Transfer Application if transferring from another IU campus prior to graduating with an IU degree

If you are transferring from IVY Tech Region 5 and wish to review the course articulation agreement, please note this may not be a complete list of transferable courses because courses are added regularly. Please contact the Office of Admissions for additional information on how your courses my transfer to IU Kokomo.

Graduate Students

Graduate students are admitted directly into their chosen academic division. Contact the graduate program of interest for admission requirements and procedures. Complete an Online Application.

Guest Students

A guest student is any student enrolled in another college or university who wishes to take credit courses at IU Kokomo with the intention of transferring those credits back to the home institution. If you are in good academic standing at your current institution, you may take classes at IU Kokomo for one semester or during a summer session. Guest students are not eligible for federal, state, or university financial aid.

You’ll need to submit:

  • A completed Application for Admission (PDF) as a Visiting/Guest student
  • A copy of your college or university transcript or most recent grade report indicating good academic standing

Non-Degree Students

If you are a high school graduate or hold a GED certificate, are at least 21 years of age, have not been academically dismissed or suspended from a college or university, and do not wish to enroll in a degree program, you may apply for admission to IU Kokomo as a non-degree student. Non-degree students are not eligible for federal, state, or university financial aid.

You’ll need to submit:

  • A completed Application for Admission (PDF) as a Undergraduate Non-degree or Graduate Non-Degree applicant
  • A copy of your college or university transcript or most recent grade report indicating good academic standing or if you have no college experience, submit your official high school transcript or GED scores
