High School Students

If you are currently a high school student, you can begin to explore the resources of IU Kokomo in two ways:

  1. Consider taking college classes while you’re still in high school.
  2. Consider choosing IU Kokomo as a great place to earn your undergraduate degree. We offer the quality and prestige of an Indiana University degree, combined with small classes, personal attention, an active campus life, and a flexible class schedule conveniently located close to home.

Take College Classes While You're Still in High School

If you are interested in taking college courses while you are pursuing your high school diploma, you can apply for the Collegiate Credit for High School Students (CCHSS) program. Talk to your high school guidance counselor to find out how university courses fit into your high school schedule and college planning. This program is designed for admission-eligible, mature high school juniors and seniors who demonstrate preparation for college-level course work. If you are interested in CCHSS, you must:

Application forms may also be obtained from the IU Kokomo Office of Admissions. CCHSS students are not eligible for federal, state, or university financial aid.

How to Become a Student at IU Kokomo

IU Kokomo offers you the chance to earn an Indiana University degree close to home, and it’s easy to apply. You can apply online or by mail. You’ll need to submit the following:

  • A completed application form and nonrefundable application fee of $30
  • An official high school transcript (transcript must be received in a sealed envelope from the high school)
  • Your SAT or ACT scores (If you have been out of school three years or more, SAT/ACT scores are not required.)

September, October, and November

December, January, and February

Sit down with your parents to talk about how much college costs, and how you're going to finance your education. Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the IU Kokomo Application for Financial Aid. The FAFSA needs to be received by the March 10th deadline. Complete and submit your Application for Admission (PDF) (you can apply online).

March, April, and May

Take placement exams and schedule your orientation appointment.

June, July, and August

Attend New Student Orientation. Set up your student e-mail account, get your student ID card, buy your books, and make arrangements for to pay your tuition and fees.

August

Begin classes.
