Chancellor's Letter of Proclamation

Indiana University Kokomo reaffirms its long-standing commitment to a policy of nondiscrimination and affirmative action.  We seek to create a community that enhances opportunities for faculty, staff and students that celebrate our commonalities and our diversity. The campus is committed to diversity and evidences this through our mission statement, diversity plan and curriculum. We will provide a welcoming climate for students, faculty and staff and promote civility on the campus.  Consistent with this commitment, Indiana University Kokomo will take all measures to enhance diversity and to ensure that no student, employee, nor applicant for employment is discriminated against based on arbitrary considerations such as age, color, disability, ethnicity, gender, marital status, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, or veteran status.

Specifically, the campus:

(1)          will take affirmative action to ensure that its personnel programs for students, faculty

               and staff are administered without regard to age, color, disability, ethnicity, gender,

               marital status, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, or veteran status;

(2)          will make personnel decisions consistent with the goals of equal employment

               opportunity and affirmative action by taking into account requirements imposed

               by applicable civil rights laws and their implementing regulations; and

(3)          will take every effort to ensure that women, members of minority groups,

               individuals with disabilities, and veterans are actively recruited, given careful

               consideration in the screening process, and offered encouragement, assistance,

               and support in seeking advancement.

The ultimate responsibility for the effective implementation of the university's equal opportunity/affirmative action program on the Kokomo campus lies with the Interim Chancellor of the Kokomo campus.  The campus Affirmative Action Officer is charged with monitoring all relevant matters and reporting them to the Interim Chancellor.
