Office of Campus Climate

The Office of Campus Climate provides a vital support system for African American, Latino, American Indian, Asian, and other students of color enrolled at Indiana University Kokomo. 

We offer a variety of services, including:

  • social events so you can meet other students on campus
  • cultural heritage programs
  • educational support programs
  • personal counseling
  • leadership development and enhancement programs
  • mentoring
  • workshops
  • study tables 

The Office of Campus Climate also assists in the development, administration, and evaluation of student recruitment and retention efforts, sponsors outreach and early access to higher education programs, and provides cultural diversity training for IU Kokomo.

2008 SUMMER GEAR UP SCHOLARSHIP

 

Please make sure you meet all eligibility requirements below before requesting an application 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be an Affirmed Twenty-First Century Scholar.

  • You must be either

    • a high school senior entering college for the first time needing to take summer college preparation courses; or
    • a freshman in college finishing the first year and receiving the Twenty-First Century Scholarship.
  • Your must file your 2008-2009 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) It must be received by the federal processor on or before March 10, 2008.

  • You must fix your FAFSA so that all corrections (also called “edits”) are received on or before June 10, 2008.

Once you meet all eligibility requirements, you MUST REQUEST an application from your summer college institution.

Indiana University Kokomo International Student Orientation

Congratulations on your admission to Indiana University Kokomo! We look forward to welcoming you to Kokomo. Please try to arrive to campus one day before the start of the New International Student Orientation. At the beginning of orientation, you will check-in and visit with a foreign student advisor. The advisor will make copies of your documents and register your arrival. During the orientation, you will attend mandatory seminars about maintaining good immigration status, and discuss finances, employment, and insurance as they pertain to international students. The campus tour will familiarize you with your new surroundings, public transportation, and local stores and restaurants. During the tour your guide will also discuss academic life at Indiana University. 

The orientation staff will provide assistance and answer your questions about all orientation events and any other questions you may have. If you have any questions about Indiana University Kokomo and the orientation event, feel free to send an email to cibarnes@iuk.edu.

Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Evening appointments can be arranged for students who are unable to visit during regular office hours.
