Accounts and Passwords

Getting Started

IU's Account Management Service is designed to assist students, faculty, staff, affiliates, and guests in creating and managing their computing accounts and passwords. You will open your official IU account through Account Management Service. This account is referred to as your ADS (Active Directory Service) account. All IU Kokomo students will need to have an ADS account to logon to the computers in the open lab, computer classrooms, Learning Enhancement Center, and the library. For more information or to get help with this account, stop by the IT Helpdesk located in the library's information commons.

Here is a list of other computing accounts

IU E-mail (Exchange) Account (Faculty and Staff Only)

Faculty and staff use Exchange e-mail accounts.  You can access this from home by going to  www.exchange.iu.edu.  You can forward your e-mail to another account from the Account Management Service page.

E-mail Account—Students

When you setup your ADS (Active Directory Service) account , (also known as your IU network ID and password), you need to select an IU e-mail account at that time.  This will be the official method of communication from Indiana University Kokomo to students.

If you did not setup your e-mail account at the time you setup your ADS account, you can still set up this account by going to the Accounts Management Service page.  Select " Create more IU computing accounts, set e-mail forwarding, and manage my existing accounts and passwords " to create a Cyrus e-mail account.

Your IUK e-mail addresses includes your username (from your ADS account) and ends with @iuk.edu (e.g. username@iuk.edu).   You can use webmail.iuk.edu to access your email account.

For more information about your e-mail account, please see the IU Knowledge Base document on "Features of IU Webmail."

IU Information System (IUIS) Account

Any faculty or staff member who needs an IUIS account should contact the Office of the Registrar for an application form. The IU Kokomo Office of the Registrar will process your request.  Pleae note a User Agreement for a SafeWord card is required for access.

Financial Information System (FIS) Account

Any faculty or staff member who needs an FIS account should have their department head send the request and justification for the account to Vice Chancellor for Information Technology. If the request is approved, the Vice Chancellor will send the authorization to IU Bloomington and to the IU Office of Information Technology. Please note that a SafeWord card is required for access.

The Online Purchasing System (TOPS) Account

Any faculty or staff member who needs a TOPS account should have the department head notify in the Purchasing Department via e-mail.

Temporary Accounts

You may need temporary accounts to conduct workshops at IU Kokomo. The Department of Information Technology is able to setup accounts for this purpose. To request temporary accounts, contact at least 15 days in advance of your workshop. Please include the following information in the e-mail request:

  • The name of the owner (requestor) of the workshop
  • The number of accounts needed
  • Starting and ending dates and times of the workshop
  • Purpose of the workship

IT will notify the requestor when the accounts are ready.  IT will supply a log sheet in which the requestor of the workshop will be required to fill out listing what username was assigned to each student.   After the workshop, please send the log sheet to the Helpdesk (KA140).  When the workshop has ended, IT will disable the accounts.
