Department of Information Technology

Internet, Telecommunications, Audio/Visual (A/V), and Wireless

Internet

The Department of Information Technology supports all network services on campus, including network equipment, the fiber optic campus backbone, Ethernet connections, networked printing services, and desktop computers. IT also provides technical support to faculty, staff, and students for computing needs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Telecommunications

Telecommunications oversees billing, maintenance, and operation of IU Kokomo's telephone resources. If you have a question or concern about your billing or telephone service, please contact Cheryl Little at extension 373.

Audio/Visual (A/V)

Audio/Visual (A/V) provides audio and video equipment for IU Kokomo's high-tech classrooms, auditoriums, and events. The A/V staff offers training to faculty and staff on how to use the equipment—the A/V staff does not provide personnel to run A/V equipment. Those needing training must make arrangements at least 24 hours in advance. A/V also provides communication services through the IHETS and VIC networks for your videoconference needs. For this service, room reservations must be made in advance. Equipment and videoconference rooms are in limited supply, and all reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis.

Available resources include TV/VCR stations, computer presentation stations, teleconferencing (PolyCom), video/tape duplication, and camera/imaging.

Audio/Visual can duplicate CDs, audio, and video tapes. For this service, you must provide the blank media to record to and copyright permission.

A/V is also your source for films and videotapes from the IU Kokomo Library. To browse for a video, go to IU Bloomington's Classroom Technology Services. Once you make a selection, contact A/V and we will order it for you.

To make a reservation, contact the Helpdesk by sending an e-mail to or calling extension 315.

Wireless Access

Students, faculty, and staff can access the IU Kokomo network through wireless hotspots located throughout the campus. The wireless hotspots all have the SSID of iuk-wireless.
