Labs, Classrooms, and Resources

Indiana University Kokomo supports the technology needs of students by providing access to computers throughout the campus. Students will need to have an ADS (Active Directory Service) account to log onto the computers in the open lab, computer classrooms, Learning Enhancement Center, and the library. The computers in these areas have the standard software setup.

Computer Labs

Information Commons
There are more than 70 computers available for student use located throughout the library in study rooms as well as the Information Literacy Classrooms (KA144 and KA148). Students who want to study in other areas of the library may check out a laptop computer that can be used in the wireless areas of the library. The computers are available during library hours and may be checked out at the library checkout desk.

Hunt Hall Room 102 Open Lab
The Hunt Hall Open Lab contains Dell desktop computers and a black and white laser printer. The lab is open for use when Hunt Hall is open. The lab is closed on Saturday and Sunday. Students who need computer support while they are using the lab can call the Helpdesk at extension 315.

Learning Enhancement Center (LEC)
There are several computers in the LEC. When not being used for placement testing, these computers are available for use by all IU Kokomo students.

Computer Classrooms

IU Kokomo currently has six computer classrooms that are used for classroom instruction. These are located in the Main Building, Rooms 054, 080, and 082 on the lower level, and Room 179 on the first floor; and in Hunt Hall Rooms 201 and 224 on the second floor. Hunt Hall also contains a multimedia/networking lab that students may use to practice their networking skills, such as how to set up servers. The multimedia/network lab is connected to Room 201.

File Storage Space
Students have access to 200 MB of file storage space located on Indiana University servers. Oncourse provides 100 MB of space in the "My Filemanager" feature, and the Common File Storage system (CFS) provides another 100 MB of space.

To create a CFS account, go visit IU's Account Management Service. Once your account has been created, you can access your CFS file storage space via the Internet. You will be required to enter your ADS username and password before accessing your storage space. More >>

Print Management
Print management is responsible for the operation and accounting related to the campus' digital print management system. This system includes all student lab printing and the digital copiers placed around campus.

The Department of Information Technology has installed a print management application, VendPrint®, that gives each IU Kokomo student a semester "quota" for printing. The current quota is 650 pages of black and white printing per semester. The campus also has a color laser printer that is located in the library. The cost of a color page is 50 cents per page (about the equivalent of 13 pages of black and white printing).

You will need to manage your printing allotment so that you have enough to cover the entire semester. Once you have reached the semester quota, you will be required to pay 4 cents per page, 50 cents for color. This will be done by using a student ID card or a copy card at the print release station until the next semester begins.

You may not transfer quota balances over to the next semester. With this quota system, you may send print jobs from the computer classrooms, open labs, library, and your own wireless laptop.

Get Adobe Reader In order to view the PDF files below, you will need a copy of Adobe Reader.

Faculty members who want to request additional software must complete a Lab Software Request Form (PDF) for each installation. You can complete a request form online (PDF).

Instructional Resources

The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Assessment provides technology training and consulting for IU Kokomo faculty and staff. Training options include "one-on-one" sessions or workshops on topics such the Oncourse or Web publishing. Please check the training schedule to find out when the workshops are being held. If you have three to five people in your department who require training but cannot make a specific time, the center can make special arrangements for a separate workshop on a different day in the same week.

IU Kokomo also offers a number of high-tech classrooms and computer labs that enhance student learning. Instructional resources are available through the Audio/Visual (A/V) department and through IU Bloomington's Classroom Technology Services.
