Placement Tests
All first-time students need to take the
appropriate placement tests. The tests required are listed on the
admissions letter. These tests should be taken prior to orientation.
Students will either take all placements tests
(English, Reading, and Math) or Math only. If you are not sure which
ones you will need to take you can check your admissions letter or
call your advisor to determine which test is appropriate.
The test scores are a guide to assist students
and their advisor in selecting the appropriate level class to enroll
in for their skill level.
The English, reading, and mathematics
examinations take approximately two and one-half hours. The tests
are timed, and no student will be admitted to the testing room after
a specific test has begun. The math placement test should
be taken preceding the semester that enrollment in math is
anticipated.
Students may take a foreign language exam to
determine what class they should register for. The foreign language placement test is required for
students who wish to continue study in a foreign language (Spanish,
French, German) in which they have had previous instruction.
Because test results will not be available on the
day the test is taken, new students should complete the placement
tests at least two weeks prior to the registration time. Students
should check with their advisors for their scores. Do not call the
Testing Center for test results.
Placement testing is available on the
following days/times: Monday & Wednesday at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday &
Thursday at 9:00 a.m. Additional times may be added as needed
