  Legislators meet with campus representatives

KOKOMO, Ind.—Indiana General Assembly members who serve the 11 counties in the IU Kokomo service area met March 12 with students, staff, and community advisors of IU Kokomo in a dinner held in Indianapolis. Legislators present were Representative Jim Buck (R–District 38) , Senator Jeff Drozda (R-District 21), Representative Bill Friend (R–District 23), Senator Joseph Harrison (R–District 23), Representative Ron Herrell (D–District 30) with his wife, Jan, and Representative Richard McClain (R–District 24).

Chancellor Ruth Person presented each with a packet of information, detailing recent campus activities and accomplishments. Students Joyce Ingle, Sean Temoney and Mike Sandy talked with the legislators about their college experiences. Ingle and Temoney both major in business; Ingle lives in Walton, and Temoney lives in Kokomo. Sandy is a social and behavioral sciences major from Kokomo.

Also present were IU Kokomo Advisory Board members Jim Alender of Kokomo and Pat McNarny of Logansport; IU Bloomington staff Kathy Smith and Don Weaver; IU Kokomo vice chancellors Nancy Dailey, Stuart Green, Jack Tharp, and Bill Yost; Dean of the School of Nursing Penny Cass; School of Business faculty Marilyn Kintzele and Dianne Roden; and Director of Alumni Relations Cathy Hightower.
