  Herbert’s April 15 inauguration can be seen on Kokomo campus

KOKOMO, Ind.—A live telecast of the inauguration of Indiana University President Adam W. Herbert, Ph.D., can be viewed on the IU Kokomo campus Thursday, April 15. The campus community and public are invited to watch the telecast at 3 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium in the Kelley Student Center. Guests to campus who do not have an IU Kokomo parking pass are asked to park in the lower level of the parking garage, located on the south end of campus.

The inauguration will take place in the IU Auditorium on the Bloomington campus, and is also open to the public. In his inaugural address, President Herbert will outline his vision for IU’s eight campuses, which enrolled a record 94,212 students in January.

The ceremony, which will feature the gowned traditions of the academy, will be the center of inaugural events. The evening before the ceremony, Indiana University Distinguished Professor of Music David Baker and Bunky Green, professor and director of jazz studies at the University of North Florida, will perform a jazz concert. Scheduled April 14 at 8:30 p.m. in the IU Auditorium at Bloomington, the concert is free and open to the public. Adam Herbert became the 17th president of Indiana University on August 1, 2003. He is professor of public administration in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs and professor of political science in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Herbert comes to IU from the University of North Florida, where he most recently served as Regents Professor and founding executive director of The Florida Center for Public Policy and Leadership. He served as president of the university from 1989–1998. From 1998–2000, Herbert was the sixth chancellor of the State University System of Florida, the second-largest university system in America.
