Day care opens to school-age children in summer

KOKOMO, Ind.—Little Learners Child Care Center on the IU Kokomo campus will offer its first summer program for children ages 6–12 from June 1 to August 13. The program will run from 7:45 a.m.– 5 p.m. on the campus. Youngsters will be able to participate in sports, games, crafts, reading, occasional field trips and other activities. Snacks will be provided but children need to bring their own sack lunch. The weekly cost is $80 per child, if parents are IU Kokomo students, and $85 per child for campus staff or faculty and community members. Participants must be enrolled for the entire summer program, although breaks will be allowed for week-long vacations. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. The center will also continue its year-round programming for children ages 1–5. Fees range from $95–$110 per week for, depending on the child’s age and whether a parent is an IU Kokomo student. Families can receive a 10 percent discount with enrollment of a second child. Summer hours start on Wednesday, May 12. They are Mondays through Thursdays, 7 a.m.–6 p.m., and Fridays, 7 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Little Learners will be closed on Commencement Day, Tuesday, May 11; on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31; and on Monday, July 5, for the campus’ Independence Day holiday.
