Seven students to present at IU women's conference

KOKOMO, Ind.—Seven Indiana University Kokomo students will present papers at the 17th Annual IU Intercampus Women's Studies/Gender Studies Undergraduate Research Conference. This year's conference, titled “Women's Lives,” takes place April 1 at IU Southeast in New Albany. Participating students and their presentation topics include Martha Bugher, Kokomo, English major: “ 'That is called beauty, except the color:' Aphra Behn and Issues of Race in Oroonoko” Edwin Faunce, Kokomo, communication arts major: “An Interview with Dr. Fatimah Muhammad: An Individual's Perspective on Gendering” Melissa Heffernan, Rossville, English major: “ 'She was a worthy woman al hir live:' Chaucer and the Question of Misogyny” Amelissa James, Logansport, psychology major: “Violence in Video Games and the Home: A Content Analysis” Dixie Laures, Fulton, sociology major: “Family Preservation” Carri Luster, Kokomo, humanities major: “Gender in Comics” Navi Van Wormer, Peru, communication arts major: “Zora Neale Hurston: Positive Integration of Nature and Nurture” Robert Strikwerda, Ph.D., director of the IU Kokomo Honors Program, has coordinated the students' conference participation.
