  IUK Singers present concert April 22

KOKOMO, Ind.—The IUK Singers will present a spring concert Friday, April 22, at 7 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.

The program will include medleys from the musical “Miss Saigon” and of tunes made famous by the vocal jazz group Manhattan Transfer. Additional selections will be the 16th century madrigal tune “Weep, O Mine Eyes,” “Angels Among Us,” and “Achieved Is Thy Glorious Work” by Haydn.

Participation in IUK Singers is open to students, faculty, and staff, as well as community members. In 2005, community performers include Walt and Shirley McIndoo and Dan Stout, all of Kokomo. Current student singers include Bill Elliott of Denver; Julie Reed-Rossi of Flora; Autumn Reef of Forest; Colburn Lambert of Frankfort; Erica Foust of Roann; Jessie Davenport of Rochester; Derek Bishop and Chelsea Conrad of Russiaville; Nicci Hernandez of Sharpsville; Jessica Stryker of Windfall; and Suzanne Bell, Jennifer Bowling, Mandy Bourff, Debbie Bricker, Monique Ethier, Tisha Oliver, Faith Rose, Doug Showalter, and Dawn Stumpfol, all of Kokomo.

Lecturer in Music Cindy Ison accompanies the group on keyboard. Student accompanists for the spring concert will include Derek Week on drums, Derek Bishop on saxophone, and Doug Showalter and Andrew Rosborough on guitar. Week and Rosborough are from Kokomo.

The IUK Singers will also be featured in salute to military veterans, during a May 4 concert presented by the IU Kokomo Howard County Community Band. The 6 p.m. concert will be performed on the campus Earth Stage, weather permitting.
