University of Michigan honors Chancellor Person

KOKOMO, Ind.—Indiana University Kokomo Chancellor Ruth J. Person has been named the 2006 Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Michigan (U-M) School of Information and its alumni society. The award was presented April 28, during the school’s spring graduation ceremony in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Ruth Person earned a master’s degree in library science and a doctorate in management, library, and information science from the University of Michigan. She also holds a master’s degree in administration from the George Washington University School of Business and Public Management.
Since her appointment as chancellor of IU Kokomo in September 1999, Person has overseen numerous advancements in science education programs and has helped drive the creation of several new degree programs.
Notifying Chancellor Person of the honor, Karen Jordan, associate director of development for the U-M School of Information, wrote: “This award recognizes and honors alumni who have contributed to the information professions and distinguished themselves in a number of ways. Your impressive career and service to the School of Information over the years make you the perfect recipient of this award.”
