Three Kokomo faculty earn IU FACET awards

April 20, 2007

KOKOMO, Ind.—Indiana University Kokomo faculty members Kathryn Holcomb, Ph.D., Karla Farmer Stouse, and Terri Bourus, Ph.D., have received Faculty Colloquium on Excellence in Teaching (FACET) awards. Holcomb is an associate professor of psychology. Farmer Stouse is a lecturer in English. Bourus is an associate professor of English.

FACET awards are presented to Indiana University faculty members who have demonstrated their exceptional commitment to teaching and learning through areas of self-evaluation, course preparation, research, instructional skills, and student impact. FACET Director David J. Malik said teachers recognized by FACET are many of the university’s “most dedicated faculty . . . , and the big winners are the students in these faculty members’ classes.”

Holcomb, Farmer Stouse, and Bourus were among 17 IU educators from across the state to receive FACET awards in 2007. They join a distinguished group of IU faculty members who have been chosen annually since FACET's inception in 1989, bringing FACET’s current full-time faculty membership to a total of 372 from virtually every discipline. New FACET honorees will be recognized at the 19th annual FACET Retreat, May 18 and 19 in Indianapolis.
