Speech Olympics planned Wednesday

April 20, 2007

KOKOMO, Ind.—Students in Indiana University Kokomo public speaking courses will compete Wednesday, April 25, in the annual Speech Olympics. Sponsored by the School of Arts and Sciences, the event starts at 7 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.

Speakers in the 2007 Olympics and their topics include
Brittany Butcher, “Gay Marriage”
Stephen Conger, “Inherited Characteristics in Humans”
Kyle Koening, “ ‘Going Green’ to Reduce Global Warming”
Cidnee McQueary, “Laws Targeting Ownership of Specific Dog Breeds”
Chase Richardson, “Preservation of the Florida Everglades”

Richardson and Conger are students of Assistant Professor of Communication Arts Chris Darr, Ph.D. Lecturer in Communication Arts Jaime Hamilton teaches Butcher, Koening, and McQueary.
