Student Art Day brings arts and crafts sale to Alumni Hall

April 13, 2009

KOKOMO, Ind. – Come enjoy arts, crafts, and acoustic entertainment during the Indiana University Kokomo Spring Student Art Day, on Tuesday, April 14, from 12 to 6 p.m. in Alumni Hall.

Spring crafts will be for sale, including tie-dye scarves and flower bulbs. Student prints from classes taught by Minda Douglas, assistant professor of fine arts, will be among the other items for sale. Additionally, a silent auction will run until 5:30 p.m., hosted by the Innovation Symposium.

The Innovation Symposium is a select Summer I course taught by Karla Stouse, senior lecturer in English, and involves students who look at social and environmental issues on both the global and local scale. The class will travel to England for 20 days and study innovations found at various historic locations throughout the country.

Individuals interested in selling their own arts and crafts may rent a booth for $15. Proceeds from the rental fees will benefit the Innovation Symposium. Money earned from sales may be kept by the booth-renter.

For more information about the event, including renting a booth, contact Brayton Mendenhall at bramende@iuk.edu.

Indiana University Kokomo serves a seven county, primary service area in north central Indiana, bringing quality education to area residents. The campus offers more than 40 academic programs including four graduate degrees.
