April 15, 2009

KOKOMO, Ind. – The Indiana University Kokomo Art Gallery is proud to present the Second Annual IU Kokomo Student Art Exhibition beginning Monday, April 20, and showing through Sunday, May 24. This show will feature the best paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures and digital art works created by student artists during the past year.

An opening reception will take place on Wednesday, April 22, from 4 to 6 p.m.

“This is an exciting exhibition of young artistic talent being nurtured in the new fine arts program here at IU Kokomo,” said Whitney Bair-Sneed, lecturer in fine arts and Art Gallery director.

IU Kokomo began offering a bachelor’s in fine arts during fall semester 2008.

Nearly 20 students are enrolled this academic year in the Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts program that will provide them with a variety of skills ranging from animation, to video production, to graphic design, to digital art. These classes offer real interaction, which can be translated into several types of concentrations including business web site design and computer illustration.

Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Wednesdays until 8 p.m.; Saturdays, noon to 4 p.m.; and Sundays, 1 to 5 p.m. Persons without campus parking permits should follow signs to visitor parking.

Indiana University Kokomo serves a seven county, primary service area in north central Indiana. The campus offers more than 40 academic programs including four graduate degrees.
