  New certificate programs offered in business psychology, fashion design, Photoshop®

KOKOMO, Ind.—IU Kokomo’s Division of Continuing Studies launches three new certificate programs this fall, covering the “Psychology of Business,” fashion design and the use of the computer graphics software Photoshop®.

Students of certificate programs pay a non-refundable registration fee of $20, in addition to individual course fees. Discounts do not apply to the certificate fee or to certificate program courses. For additional information, call (765) 455-9426 or visit http://www.iuk.edu/scs.

Psychology of Business Certificate Program

Offered in cooperation with the Small Business Development Center, the seminar series Psychology of Business will help unravel the mysteries of interpersonal dynamics in the workplace. The program includes 18 hours of training, offered in six evening sessions during September and October.

Personality Assessment This seminar focuses on four influential personality traits, whole-brain thinking, communication styles, values and attitudes, and information processing. Students will use a self-evaluation method that provides insight and information into their own traits and strengths. Tuesday, September 9, 6–9 p.m. Fee: $110
Mars and Venus in the Workplace Men and women see the world differently, affecting their personal and professional interactions. By understanding those differences, you can improve male-female relationships. Tuesday, September 16, 6–9 p.m. Fee: $85
Leading Change in Ever-Changing Environments In order to succeed, companies need to continually pursue major shifts in the way they do business. Learn to embrace change and lead your business fearlessly into new ventures. Tuesday, September 23, 6–9 p.m. Fee: $85
Conflict Resolution: What Triggers Rage? Guaranteed to make you think, laugh and learn, this course looks at what causes conflict, how to deal with it effectively, and how to move on quickly after the dust has settled. Tuesday, September 30, 6–9 p.m. Fee: $85
The Power of Luck A few “unlucky” employees often cause a high percentage of an organization’s worker compensation claims, safety issues and productivity problems. Learn to spot “bad luck” before you make a hiring offer, and to coach “fortunate” skills in current employees. Tuesday, October 7, 6–9 p.m. Fee: $85.
Trends in Learning Some people learn on an auditory level, and others learn on a visual level. Find out how this can affect office communication and cooperation. Tuesday, October 14, 6–9 p.m. Fee: $85.

Fashion Design Certificate Program

Whether for professional aims or just to create your own wardrobe, the 60-hour Fashion Design certificate program will show you how to illustrate with different medias and develop your individual drawing style. The program begins with Introduction to Fashion Design, Mondays, September 8–29, 6–8 p.m. The class offers a basic understanding of the evolution of garments and the elements of design, such as color, textile, cuts, balance and line. Fee: $79

Photoshop® Certificate Program

In four courses, learn the features and capabilities of Adobe Photoshop®, a powerful tool for creating and modifying images. Learn to restore photographs, design graphics for print media, and design Web sites with Photoshop® and its sister program, ImageReady®. The program starts with Beginning Photoshop® Tuesdays and Thursdays, September 16–25, 6–8 p.m. In this class, you’ll become familiar with the interface and palettes of Photoshop®. You’llearn how to use the basic, most popular features of this program by designing graphics and editing pictures. Fee: $239.

Advanced Photoshop Tuesdays and Thursdays, November 4–13, 6–8 p.m. Fee: $159
