  Regional Art Exhibition opens Sunday at IU Kokomo Gallery

KOKOMO, Ind.—Rebecca Lyon of Indianapolis has received best of show honors in the IU Kokomo Art Gallery’s 2003 Regional Juried Art Exhibition, on display now through September 18. Made of industrial felt, Lyon’s winning work is titled Shield of Wounds.

The exhibition displays 70 works of art created by residents of north central Indiana. Five pieces received Merit Awards:

Squared Containers, wood-fired ceramic by Jay Dougan, Indianapolis
Body Image/Self Image, sculpture by Mary Hettmansperger, Peru
At Arms’ Length, beeswax and string composition by Lori Miles, Greenfield
Focusing Between Fantasy and Desire, oil on canvas by Ralph Privoznik, Lafayette
Portrait of a Hostile Romantic, blown glass by David Schnuckel, Kokomo

Five entries received Honorable Mention designations:

Cezanne’s Apples, mixed media by Scott Anderson, Hartford City
When Will It Stop Raining?, color photography by Tiffany Bolk, Kendallville
Closure, five-panel mixed media on foam by Michael Bricker, Indianapolis
Guilty, pigment inkjet print by Mark Sawrie, Muncie
The Wife, mixed media by Arlyne Springer, Noblesville
