August 27, 2004 | |||||
KOKOMO, Ind.—Indiana University Kokomo has appointed Heidi Sebastian-Thomason as an assistant professor of radiography and coordinator of the Associate Degree in Radiography program’s clinical courses. An imaging technologist for Logansport Memorial Hospital, Sebastian-Thomason has directed clinical radiographic training there for IU Kokomo as part of her duties. This fall, she is teaching two levels of Radiographic Procedures and their related clinical experiences. “A clinical instructor does hands-on teaching with the students and patients,” Sebastian-Thomason said. “I have found this very enjoyable because it gives student the ability to apply what they have been learning in their didactic courses.”
She earned a Bachelor of Science in Allied Health Professions/Radiologic Technology in 1993 from The Ohio State University. She worked in CT, MRI, and diagnostic radiography services at university’s medical center for 10 years, ending her tenure as a senior technologist who managed day-to-day operations of the diagnostic radiology department. She lives in Peru with her husband, Lou, who is a pastor and financial advisor. They own and operate “The Bridge,” a Peru youth center. “The Bridge is open on Friday and Saturday nights to provide a pressure-free environment where young people can listen to positive music and play pool, ping-pong, basketball, and video games,” Sebastian-Thomason said. An arts enthusiast, she enjoys singing and recently took mime and ballet classes. “I incorporate these talents in worship services when give the opportunity,” she said.
