KOKOMO, Ind.—IU Kokomo student no longer have to pay for each page printed from a library computer, or trek to the computer lab for free printing. The campus has installed VendPrint®, a print management system that will allow students to print up to 650 free pages per semester from any student computer on campus. Previously, students could print up to 20 free pages per day in the computer lab in the basement of the Main Building, but not in any other campus location. The computer lab was eliminated in early August, when lab computers and the IT help desk were moved to the campus library, as part of the new Information Commons. “Students will not have to leave the library if they have a computing problem,” said Director of Student Computer Services Lisa Schunk. “They can get help in the Information Commons with e-mail, passwords, software tutoring, and printing.” Previously, students have had to pay to print anything from Library computers, Schunk said. “This new quota system enhances the Information Commons even more.” Under the new printing quota system, all print jobs will be counted against a student’s per-semester quota, whether the printing takes place in the library, computer classrooms, or the open lab in Hunt Hall, Room 102. “Everyone receives a new quota at the beginning of each semester,” Schunk said. “The remaining balance at the end of each semester will not roll over into the next. “ For more information, contact the IT help desk at (765) 455-9315 or lschunk@iuk.edu.
