Governor names Narwold to Indiana Hospital Council

August 29, 2005

KOKOMO, Ind.—Governor Mitch Daniels has selected IU Kokomo School of Nursing faculty member Lynda Narwold, R.N., M.A., for a four-year appointment to the Indiana Hospital Council.

An associate clinical professor and director of the Associate of Science in Nursing program, Narwold will represent the nursing profession on the nine-member council.

The Council sets licensure fees and guidelines for hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, abortion clinics, and birthing centers in the state, according to Narwold. “We also propose rules to the executive board of the Indiana Board of Health that are necessary to protect the health, safety, rights, and welfare of patients in those settings,” Narwold said. “The governor has specifically charged this council with proposing rules that will protect the safety of patients.”

Dean of the School of Nursing Penny Cass, R.N., Ph.D., said Narwold, an IU Kokomo faculty member since 1984, will be “a stellar representative of the IU Kokomo campus and School of Nursing on this statewide council.”

Sandi Huddleston, executive director of the Lugar Series, nominated Narwold for the state council. Named for Indiana Senator Richard Lugar, the Lugar Series promotes excellence in public service, through a year's worth of educational programs open to women active in the Republican Party. Narwold was a graduate of the 10th class of the Lugar Series.
