Silent Hill showing at IU Kokomo ‘Drive-In’

August 24, 2006

KOKOMO, Ind.—If you like your horror movies filled with eerie atmosphere and creepy ghouls, take the ride to Silent Hill, showing at Indiana University Kokomo’s “Great College Drive-in Movie” Wednesday, September 6.

The film will be shown at dusk (approximately 9 p.m.) on the campus Earth Stage. Admission is free; viewers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating.

Based on a popular video game of the same name, Silent Hill was directed by Christophe Gans, who gained notice for his werewolf film, Brotherhood of the Wolf.

In Silent Hill, Gans again employs startling visual effects to tell the story of Rose Da Silva, a mother trying to find out why her daughter Sharon is experiencing disturbing dreams about the abandoned mining town of Silent Hill. Traveling with Sharon to the haunted site, Rose crashes her car and awakes to find the girl gone. Rose’s desperate hunt through crumbling buildings and smoldering mine shafts turns up the town’s gruesome past and hidden inhabitants.

Silent Hill is rated R for violence and content that may be frightening to young children. The film runs 125 minutes. The event is sponsored by the Student Union Board, (765) 455-9203.
