December 18, 2008
Kokomo, Indiana – Indiana University Kokomo’s alumni publication, Messenger, recently was awarded a Certificate of Excellence for graphic arts from NewPage Corporation.
The “Think Green” spring and summer 2007 issue was recognized for its design, clearness of message, and print quality. Messenger is designed and created by Meg Ban, graphic designer for IU Kokomo’s Office of Communications and Marketing, and was printed by Shearer Printing of Kokomo.
"The redesign of Messenger was a priority in the process to upgrade the look, content, and image our print pieces,” said Paul Nowak, vice chancellor for external relations. “This recognition is the second award we have received and must mean that we are doing something right. The credit goes to Meg Ban, our designer."
Shearer representative David Lovegrove submitted the magazine to NewPage, the largest coated paper manufacturer in North America, because of the innovative design and timely theme of the publication.
Indiana University Kokomo serves a seven county, primary service area in north central Indiana. The campus offers more than 40 academic programs including four graduate degrees.
