A cappella ensemble Chapter 6 in free show at IU Kokomo
February 7, 2003 | |||||
|
KOKOMO, Ind.—IU Kokomo’s Student Union Board will present the a cappella group Chapter 6, Wednesday, February 19, at 7 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium (near the IU Kokomo Library). The public is welcome to this free performance. A cappella is unaccompanied music, in which sounds are made solely by the voice. Comprised of six singers and one arranger, Chapter 6 has created a medley of original arrangements ranging from jazz, gospel, pop, classical renaissance and rock. In 2000, Chapter 6 won the Chicago Harmony Sweepstakes, making it the youngest group to ever qualify for the National Finals. The singers were crowned the 2001 International Collegiate A Cappella Grand Champions and their arranger Mark Grizzard tied himself for “Best Arrangement.” Appearing again at the 2002 Chicago Harmony Sweepstakes, Chapter 6 not only won the competition but also received awards for “Best Arrangement” and “Audience Favorite” for a second time. The group placed third in the National Harmony Sweepstakes that year.
