Alumni Association sponsors 18th Old Ben 5K

KOKOMO, Ind.—The 18th Annual Old Ben 5K Run/Walk will be held Saturday, March 22, at 9 a.m. in Kokomo’s Highland Park. The Indiana University Kokomo Alumni Association (IUKAA) will sponsor the event, in association with Club Kokomo, the Kokomo Parks and Recreation Department and The Kokomo Tribune. Grouped in age divisions, males and females will compete separately in the running race, but together in the walking race. Both take place on a 5,000-meter course with several hills inside the park. Only pre-registered participants will be eligible for age-division awards. In the runners’ competition, the top overall male and female also will receive awards, along with the masters’ champion runner. Individual top overall male and female walkers will earn awards. Participants must be present to receive awards and doorprizes in a post-race ceremony. To obtain a mail-in registration form, contact the IU Kokomo Office of Alumni Relations at (765) 455-9411 or e-mail alumni@iuk.edu. A $12 fee must accompany registrations postmarked on or before March 7. Registration after March 7 costs $15, and day-of-race registration will be offered from 7:30–8:30 a.m. at the park. The first 200 participants to register will receive a commemorative T-shirt. The End Result Company, Inc., will organize race day registration and finish line activities.
