KOKOMO, Ind.—Two cutting-edge Indianapolis artists. Greg Hull and Anita Giddings, will present their most recent mixed media installations at the IU Kokomo Art Gallery. Titled Conduit, the exhibition opens on Sunday, February 29, with a 2–4 p.m. reception and runs through April 4. Instructors at IUPUI’s Herron School of Art, Hull and Giddings develop their ideas using a variety of materials and technologies, according to Gallery Director Minda Douglas. “Photography, digital art, and video, as well as found and sculpted objects, are all possible elements in their expressive works,” she said. Giddings’ installation TimePiece demonstrates her interest in how humans explain the phenomena of the natural world. She addresses the human preoccupation of naming and defining all things in the world. “In my work, I try to find some natural system that is timeless and unchanging for myself,” Giddings said. Greg Hull’s installation Thresholds echoes Giddings’ ideas of connectivity among place, time, and memory. Thresholds’ video walkway takes the viewer across a coastline and through an ancestral fishing village, past boats used by earlier generations. The exhibition and activities at the IU Kokomo Art Gallery are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday–Thursday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.; Wednesdays, until 8 p.m.; and Saturdays and Sundays, noon–4 p.m. For more information, call (765) 455-9523 or visit www.iuk.edu/gallery.
