IU Kokomo spring enrollment up 6.4 percent for year

KOKOMO, Ind.—For the second consecutive semester, IU Kokomo leads all eight Indiana University campuses in one-year percentage increases in the number of students and credit hours registered. With 2,740 students enrolled for spring semester 2004, the Kokomo campus saw a 6.4 percent jump, in comparison to its spring semester 2003 student population. Current students signed up for 25,934 total credit hours of classes, up 8.2 percent over spring 2003 figures. “We benefited from our exceedingly large enrollment last fall,” said Vice Chancellor for Student Services Jack Tharp. “Many students are continuing their studies into the spring.” Total IU Kokomo’s fall 2003 enrollment of 2,954 students was 6.6 percent higher than that of the for fall 2002. Enrollment at Indiana University’s eight campuses for the spring semester is 94,212, which is an IU record. The number of credit hours taken—1,054,232—also is a record for the university. Enrollment increased 0.6 percent over that of spring semester 2003, and credit hours increased 1.7 percent.
