  Local artists featured in exhibit opening February 27

KOKOMO, Ind.---Visual artists from Kokomo, Peru, Logansport, Marion, and 19 other central Indiana communities will be featured in the IU Kokomo Art Gallery's Biennial Regional Exhibition, opening Sunday, February 27. The 71 featured artists will be honored during a 2--4 p.m. reception at the Gallery, located in the Kelley Student Center.

Top artists will receive cash prizes totaling $1,000; prizewinners will be announced at the reception. Juror Scott Anderson, a Ball State University assistant professor of art in painting and drawing, selected 90 pieces of art. Media include oils, pottery, metal sculpture, textiles, and others. Submissions for the show were accepted from artists living within 70 miles of Kokomo.

Admission is free to the reception and the exhibition, which will be on display through March 27. Gallery hours are Monday--Thursday, 10 a.m.--4 p.m.; Wednesday, through 8 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays, noon--4 p.m. For more information, call (765) 455-9523 or visit www.iuk.edu/artgallery.
