IU Kokomo enters battle of chili cooks

KOKOMO, Ind.—A four-member culinary team representing Indiana University Kokomo hopes to stir up a peppery prizewinner during the Red Hot and Wild Kokomo Chili Cookoff, Saturday, February 18, at Johanning Civic Center.

Chancellor Ruth Person, Havens Auditorium Technician Jeff Gegner, Arts and Sciences Dean Sue Sciame-Giesecke, and Art Gallery Director Gregory Steel will concoct the campus entry, “IU Kokomo Red Hot Chili.” IU Kokomo is the “Red Hot” sponsor of this year’s cookoff.

A panel of judges will select the top two chili recipes from cookoff teams representing a number of community businesses and organizations. The public can taste and select their own favorite hot stuff 1–4 p.m.

Tickets are $5 at the door and $4 in advance, available from the event sponsor, the Kokomo/Howard County Chamber of Commerce. Call (765) 457-5301 for details.
