KOKOMO, Ind.—Susan Sciame-Giesecke, Ph.D., dean of the Indiana University Kokomo School of Arts and Sciences, has been selected to participate in the 2006 IU Leadership Development Program (IU LeaD).
A program proposed by President Adam Herbert, IU LeaD will provide a formal system for identifying potential university leaders and building leadership skills. Through December 2006, the 30 faculty participants—deans and department chairs representing all of the IU campuses—will attend a series of management and leadership seminars at Bloomington.
“We have an obligation to identify and develop IU’s next generation of both academic and administrative leaders,” said Herbert. “Through this program, we will provide an opportunity for outstanding colleagues to develop the expanded knowledge base and skill sets needed as they assume expanded leadership responsibilities throughout the university.
“Each of the candidates who comprise the inaugural class of IU LeaD participants has great potential for even higher levels of professional success,” he said.
A Kokomo resident, Sciame-Giesecke has been an associate professor of communication arts at IU Kokomo for more than 25 years. She has chaired the Department of Humanities since 1998, and was named dean in 2003.
